Manure Transportation Project Update - Website Applications
Applications for the Manure Transportation Project are now available on the Maryland Department of Agriculture website, www.mda.state.md.us . The applications are in two different formats, PDF and Excel. The Excel version contains calculations and linked data. This should provide for easier completion. The PDF version is basically a blank application that can be printed out then completed.
Applications designated as 101 are to be used only for the transport of poultry litter that is produced by a poultry grower that is under contract with a poultry company - Allen's, Mountaire, Perdue, and Tyson. 103 applications are for all other animal manures, including poultry layer manure.
The applications can be found on the MDA site by clicking on, "CONSERVATION", then "FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE", then "MANURE MATCHING AND TRANSPORT SERVICE." There are instructions on the webpage and instructions within each application.
Applications may be submitted directly to the Department. Original signatures are required for all applications. In order to be eligible for cost share, manure must not be transported without prior approval from MDA.
When submitting an application to the Department, a nutrient management plan for the receiving farm operation must be included. A receiving operation may submit a "nutrient management plan summary" in lieu of a plan. The summary information must be taken from the plan. Original soil tests and maps must also be included with the summary (See Instructions)
Should you have questions, comments, or problems with the Excel versions, please contact Norman Astle, Coordinator, Manure Transportation Project at 410-841-5863.
